What is Women on Wheels?
Women on Wheels is a Cycling Ulster initiative to encourage more women to get on their bikes by providing a friendly and fun training programme. It follows Cycling Irelands Bike for Life programme that’s designed to assist riders who want to develop their knowledge, skill and fitness on a bike. Training sessions take place 2-3 times per week with the goal of completing a 40 mile cycle in Co Armagh on Saturday 3rd Aug.
Who is it for?
Women on Wheels is open to all women aged 18 or over. No great level of fitness is required but if you are new to exercise or have pre-existing medical conditions please check with your GP before you begin.
What do I need?
A road or hybrid bike in good working order. A helmet, gloves, water bottle, spare tube and a lightweight rain jacket.
When does it start?
Women on Wheels begins at the end of May with a bike check and info session where you get to meet the WOW leaders who will be coaching you through the next 8-10 weeks. Cycling sessions start shortly after. Each club will have different start dates which are detailed on their relevant page.
